  • We are not changing the rubric (today).
  • This is not grading. This is scoring.
  • Start with 4 and work to the right.
  • For each criterion, connect specific places in the work sample with the assigned score.

  • Avoid focusing on whether the work sample content is correct unless the rubric specifies.
  • We cannot infer.
  • Pick one whole number score per criterion. Avoid “.5”.
  • Zero is an option.
  • As we discuss scores given on each line of the rubric, notice whether a trend emerges in your own scoring.

The VALUE Rubrics are different

While scoring is about finding the best match for work sample to performance descriptor, we ask you to start with 4
