to create contour lines, you need to OBSERVE directly.
Direct Observation involves studying the details and lines of what you are drawing.
and PRACTICE.
a common way to practice is to LOOK and DRAW without lifting your pencil.

to practice don't lift your pencil and don't look at the paper
It won't look pretty.
but you will get better.
and better.
eventually we will even create self portraits!
