CHRISTMAS TRUCE

BEGINNING OF TRUCE

  • The German troops decorated for the holidays and other countries started to see this and joined in. Also the leaders back home declared it for the soldiers.

BASIC TRENCH INFO

  • Took about 450 men, six hours, to build 250 meters of trench
  • Were 1-2 meters wide and 3 meters deep
  • Shown to the public is chalked lines where they used to be

TYPES OF TRENCHES

  • Firing trenches: used for firing machinery and battling
  • Communication trenches: used for transferring men, storing food, and equipment
  • SAPS- Shallower trenches used for avoiding the enemy while moving closer for battle
