What is Culture?
The dictionary defines culture as: the quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.

To me, culture is the expression of the way people live and their customs.

People pour their religious practices, rituals, customs, values, and location into their culture in order to make their culture different and unique.

One example of an enduring conflict between cultures is the conflict between Americans and African Americans. This conflict originally began when Americans began to enslave African Americans. Although African Americans have been liberated, many Americans still view blacks as inferior and less important.They show this through discrimination and racist insults. Many blacks have experienced this and want it to change.

I chose Islam as my Culture to research.

4 physical characteristics of Islam
1. They wear very unique clothes (hijabs and turbins)
2. Women cover all of their body except for their face
3. Men usually grow out their beards
4. All Muslims speak Arabic because it was the original language of the religion and it's book.

4 beliefs/customs
1. Muslims pray 5 times a day. They do this to remind themselves of god.
2. Islam is a religion of knowledge. They believe that knowledge will bring them closer to Allah
3. Islam is a religion of love and unity. They believe that they should treat their neighbor as their brothers and sisters.
4. Muslims do not eat pork. They do this because in the Qu'ran Allah tells them not to and so they obey.

One challenge Muslims have is that they are often associated with terrorists. In the past, terrorist attacks and organizations have primarily been lead by Muslims. Therefore, many people think that all Muslims are terrorists and bad people. This is a very false statement.

Many things can influence a writer to create a literary text. Essentially, these ideas really just come from any emotion that affects the writer in a personal way. It could be love, anger, happiness, hate, or even a tragedy in the writer's life.

Literature is like life because an ongoing story. In life you make decisions that will affect the rest of your life. Writing in literature is a constant story that is affected and manipulated in each line

Many writers tell about a culture's beliefs, traditions, and customs in literature to express their feelings towards a culture or to tell about the culture so that others may have a better knowledge about the culture.

We learn about different cultures through many different types of literature. We learn about cultures through history books and other informative books. We can also get an understanding of a culture through the way a writer writes their literature.

One universal idea that is in every culture is that all cultures receive discouragement and discrimination no matter how largely accepted the culture is, but all cultures also receive encouragement.

A great method for promoting cultural awareness is to support the idea that all cultures are followed and lived by people and that. It doesn't matter how strange the culture may seem. You should show respect toward the people who live the culture.

The need for worldwide cultural acceptance is great. When the time comes that we learn to accept other cultures for what they are, we will have brought world peace because when all culture feel appreciated, there will be no need for war and hatred.

The consequence that the world will receive when we choose to discriminate against other cultures is hatred. When we choose to discriminate we will cause the cultures we are discriminating against to become angry towards us. This could possibly lead to fights, wars, and genocide.
