WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FEAR GOD

  • All the time we hear God is love and God will bless you and he will prosper you . But when do we hear that we have to fear God . I feel like we have picked and chose the bible to only hear things we wanna hear in fact I googled the most popular verses and this is what I found Jeremiah 29:11 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Doesn't that feel good to hear that he's gonna prosper you? But have you ever heard

  • the bible says do not be afraid 365 times but never has he said do not fear me he said don't fear anything of the world but do fear me. For example The bible says in Matthew 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. What is God trying to say? Well from what I understand is he's saying don't be scared of the people who wanna harm you the can only hurt your body but be afraid of me I can destroy body and your soul .
  • Why do you think I'm talking about this? It's not to scare you . what the lord wants you to do is respect him and know he is more powerful than anything . The reason I'm talking about this is because we take God as a joke we say o he's a loving God so I'm gonna do something bad and he'll forgive me because he's loving . And yeah he will forgive but your action will have consequences Having fear of the lord is knowing that he is watching and you know that as a child of God you have the responsibility of following his commands .
  • Think of God as your parents they are loving but you need to respect them because they have the authority to discipline you . When you are about to to something that your parents said not to do you think about them in your head and you have a choice if you fear them the your obeying same goes with God if you fear you won't do something that you know is wrong.
  • For example if someone goes outside to smoke is that having fear in the lord?
  • If I talk behind someone's back is that fear of the lord?
  • I want you to ask yourself do you have the fear of the lord do you follow his commands is there something in your life you know you need to change but you continue to do it
  • Ask yourself what you watch on your computer when you're alone are you having the fear of the Lord
  • Do you have the fear of the Lord with your mouth or your thoughts
