NAVAL ARTILLERY OUTBURST

  • During the 16th century, naval artillery was just being incorporated onto ships. These extremely heavy, and extremely powerful guns were placed near bottoms of ships because of the power of its after shot. During the 18th century, inventors and sailors started to come up with better designs and methods to use cannons. One of these newer firearms were the Long Nine that was used in Treasure Island.

HOW CANNONS WORK

  • The basic method of firing a cannon is to create a spark, igniting the enormous amount of gunpowder, and shoot the heavy metal ball out of its barrel.
