why do mothers have a huge impact on their children?

My essential question is “Why do mothers have such a huge impact on their children?”. The article I used was “Being a mother: An Important Role of a Woman, it explains what importance that a mother has on their children. It explains how moms are teachers in our life, they touch us different characteristics to have to become mature loving people in our future.

Mothers teach us to have confidence in ourselves. Moms’ teach their children from their past experiences to help their children. They know from experience how important for people to believe in themselves. Mother’s give lessons in life to make us believe in oneself as there is no limit to greatness one can attain or the great things you can accomplish.
For example, in the Scarlet letter, Hester tries to give Pearl all the confidence in the world. She does not want pearl to fall back into Hester’s footsteps when she was younger.

Another impact mothers have on their children is the use of their words. Children pay attention what their mother tells them because their words are powerful towards them. Mom’s reminds us that words have a powerful meaning, they can either break us up or build us up.

In the Scarlet Letter, Pearl starts saying hurtful words towards Chillingworth and Dimmesdale. Hester reminds Pearl that her choice of words are powerful and have to be careful what she says.

Mothers motivate us to live out our legacy. Not only do they teach us what is right or wrong. They teach us that whatever we dream, it is possible to do. Mom’s teaches us to have wisdom, joy, and peace in our lives which will be demonstrated throughout our lives. When moms give us support and the feeling of comfort from her. It motivates us to work harder not only for ourselves but for her as well. Children will have the energy that they wanna make their mom proud because of all the motivation that mom gives us.

This relates back to the novel, when Hester reminds Pearl to ignore everyone around her who is speaking negative about her. She does not want Pearl to think that she is a negative girl. She wants Pearl to make a name for herself and that she is a loving girl to her.

Mothers teach us to believe in God. They teach us the value of God’s word through their lives. Mom’s remind us that we have God’s strength and protection over us no matter where we are at. When we have God in ourselves, it can impact our lives in positive ways. Mom’s show us the way to God but it is our choice if we want to keep following that path.

For example, Hester tells Pearl that she does not have any good to give her. She has to find the good outside of herself because Hester has none to give out. Pearl cannot look for a father figure to help her out because she does not believe in God, or know about Him. Hester does not believe in a God that is why it is Hester to teach Pearl to have Godly traits.
