Step 3: Craft Your Strategic Plan Goals from the selected Community Goals (Step 2)

For each goal there will be:

  • Strategies and action steps
  • Timeframe and person resonsible
  • Assumptions made and reasons for goal and strategy selection
  • Monitoring and Communication activities
  • Other?

Two Documents

  • Strategic Plan PLUS
  • Implementation/Action Plan
  • The Implementation/Action Plan can have more specific details about who is doing what, when, and can include monitoring and communication

Implementation Plan

  • Make it easy

  • Can display activities in timeframe with dots or dates
  • Chart form with table

  • Who is primarily responsible for:
  • leading the implementation?
  • monitoring the implementation?
  • communicating with others about the implementation?

  • List Decisions to Be Made (where the task would be in the RACI)
  • Then add names of people or title (i.e. Library Director, pages, etc.)
  • Then add role in decision - Responsible, Approve or Veto, Consult, Support, Informed

Scenario Planning

  • Identify potential scenarios and what your library would do to reach goals under each one
  • Could be solely budget scenarios - i.e. flat funding, x% increase, x% decrease
  • Could also factor in other issues in addition to library budget i.e. school budgets, larger trends affecting library or community
