PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PYSCHOPATH’S PLAYGROUND

Should convicted be admitted to a psych ward or serve their time in jail?

Psychopaths are typically recurring offenders, manipulative, and a very dangerous threat to public safety, making it the most beneficial for them to serve their time in a secure prison.

“After obtaining a search warrant, police discovered the bodies of 29 boys and young men in or near Gacy’s house; four other bodies were found in the nearby Des Plaines River” (Jenkins).

“Mr. Manson’s hold over his followers, mostly young women who had fled middle-class homes, was that he was not physically present at the precise moment that any one of the Tate-LaBianca victims was killed” (Fox)

“Finally he turned to me and said: ‘I really do not know what emotion is, but I do know that it is what people look like just before I stab them’” (Viding 22).

“Many early reports indicated largely unsuccessful outcomes in correctional treatment , an effect mirrored in juvenile offenders” (Anderson and Kent).

After reading about how many psychopathic serial killers have gotten away with murder due to their charisma, manipulation, lack of empathy, and numerous other factors, it would be very difficult to claim that they are innocent and should not be treated like every other offender in the world. Their actions require a level of unique premeditation and create a significant threat to society.

Do you think convicted psychopaths should be admitted to a psych ward or serve their time in jail?

If as a society it was unanimously decided that psychopathy was a mental illness, crime rates and murders would be through the roof. Not one person would feel safe, and would not know if tomorrow is promised to them.
