BACKGROUND

• Was founded by Mori Torimoto
• Officially becomes a city in 1889
• Ujina Harbor established in the 1880s
• First talk with Japanese and Chinese representatives after the Sino-Japanese War

REACTION TO ATOMIC BOMB

• Suffered from severe casualties and deaths, including any military personnel.
• Destruction of a large military base
• Soon after, Japan surrendered
• Nobody was aware of what the weapon was in the beginning

FUN FACTS

• Hiroshima was the first city in the world to e bombed by an atomic bomb
• If Tokyo was to fall, Hiroshima would become Japan's capitol
• The Aug. 6 bomb was named “Little Boy,” and it was uranium-based. The Aug. 9 bomb was named “Fat Man,” and it was plutonium-based.
• “Little Boy” annihilated about five square miles of Hiroshima, whereas “Fat Man” destroyed only 2.6.
• The United States has made 4,680 atomic bombs since Hiroshima.
• Godzilla was based off the Hiroshima atomic bomb's radiation
