JOAN MİRO

Joan Miro was born in Barcelona (20 April 1893) When he was Spanish a seven years old he attended the drawing classes. He studied at Cercle Artistic de Sont Lluc. He was educated at the fine art academy at La Llotja in 1907.

He went to bussiness school as art school. He influenced "Fauves" and "Cubists". In 1918 Miro solo exhibited in Barcelona. He attended in the Surrealist group in 1924. Before 1924, Miro developed a symbolism and nationalism.

There are two important works which Catalan landscape and are the Tilled Fireled. The paintings of Miro influenced of a trip to Holland and they are more common.

Also , Miro created twenty-three gouache series.Miro's paintings focus the subjects of woman, birds and the stars. In 1974 , Miro created a tapestry for the World Trade Center in New York city with catalan artist Josep Royo

He worked sculpture and ceramics . In Paris ,he developed his unique style organic forms. Miro's style was surrealism. Miro devoted the retrospective in towns such as New York London Saint Paul de Vence and Paris.

His first exhibition was at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid. Miro's exhibition were held, among which the most important and notable were those held in the Fundacio Joan Miro barcelona , the museum of modern Art, New York, tate Modern, london.

He was awarded the many signficant prizes such as Venice Biennole Grand Prize for Graphic work(1954) , Guggenheim International Award (1958) and Gold Medical of fine arts Spain (1980).
