Making Scones in a Colonial Kitchen at Elizabeth Farm

Students can participate in many activities this allows them to engage in their learning and gain deeper understanding of what life was like for the Convicts servants doing chores just like they would have done in 1828.

Visiting Elizabeth Farm students will tour the house and see many of the rooms which are historically restored to 1828.

Prior to visting the site Teachers must note the safety of the venue. Things like uneven floors open fires and low ceilings are to be noted. Also food, chemicals and allergies must be considered for the safety of the students prior to attending the venue.

The Educational programs at Elizabeth Farm provide a great resource for primary students.

The transported in time programe allows students of stage 2 years 3 and 4 to learn about the British Colonisation and the effects on events and action that occured. This provides students to discover change and continuety . We are able to explore the history of the Macarthurs the convict servants and the Burramattagol Aborigianl people. Students explore the house and land and are transported back in time as they view historical sources and see what life was like for convict servants at the Elizabeth Farm they are able to participate in many interactive activities and feel what it really was like for a convict servant. This encourages a real understanding of the history and a valuable learning experience
