  • Food, marriage, funeral, music, and dating
  • All of these facts are going too be traditional

FOOD

  • Hmong people always eat rice with all their meal
  • One of the noddle soup we eat is called pho
  • The main meat we eat are chicken, pork, and beef
  • Pepper are usually eaten with the meat
  • Eggrolls are usually eaten on special holidays

MARRIAGE

  • The man would talk to his family about getting married
  • He and family will go to bride's house
  • Offer money to bride's parents
  • Wedding will lasted to about 3 days
  • Bride will go and live with the husband's family

FUNERALS

  • Can last to about 3-12 days
  • The qeej(reed pipe) is performed throughout the ceremony
  • It's taboo to show distress, ceremony is about the rebirth of a new soul
  • A number of oxen are sacrificed for the burial
  • Females would have a torch and guide the spirit to their burial site

MUSIC/ENTERTAINMENT

  • Kwv txhiaj(storytelling song) are sang by both men and women
  • Raj(wind instrument) are commonly use to express feelings for one another
  • Nplooj(leaf) are use back in the war for secret messages and signals
  • Pov pob(ball tossing) is a game that young couples play during new year
  • New year is for finding a love or just to hang out with friends

DATING

  • You would start dating when you are around the age of 14-15
  • Boy would usually take girl out to have fun(doesn't work the other way)
  • If a boy/girl likes you he/she would give you gifts
  • Parents would usually pick out the boyfriend/girlfriend
  • You can't date someone that has the same last name as you
