  • Friedrich Heinrich Karl “Fritz” Haarmann Aka “ The Butcher of Hanover” or “ The vampire of Hanover” or “ The Wolf-Man”

Crimes.

  • 1905 Fritz began his life as a petty thief.
  • 1913- Fritz Was Convicted of burglary.
  • 1918 Haarmann committed his first known Murder.
  • 1918-1924 Haarmann Committed 50+ Cases of Sexual assault, Murder, Mutilation, and Dismemberment.

  • Friedel Rothe. Age 17, 9-27-1918
  • Fritz Franke. Age 17, 2-12-1923
  • Wilhelm Schulze. Age 17, 3-20-1923

Fritz’s MO.

  • Fritz Killed his victims by bitting through their Adam’s apple and the trachea. He called the “ Love bites”

  • In 1885 Fritz was diagnosed with Anxiety Neurosis. ( Equivalent to epilepsy )
  • In 1897 Fritz Was deemed Incurably deranged.
  • In 1902 Fritz was Diagnosed with dementia Praecox.

  • Fritz Grew up watching his father have multiple affairs.
  • He also grew up know that his father only married his mother for her wealth.

  • As a kid Fritz tended to play with His sisters toys and shun “ boys activity’s “.
  • His teachers called him “ Spoiled and Mollycoddled”
  • At the Age of 8 Fritz was molested by one of his teachers.
  • Fritz was a homosexual which was illegal in Germany at the time.

  • Fritz was Tried for 27 known murders
  • He Was also tried for 27 counts of sexual assault.
  • Fritz Was examined by a psychologist and Deemed Fit to stand trial.

Trail Aftermath

  • Haarmann was convicted of 24 of 27 known murders And Sexual assaults.
  • Fritz was sentenced to Death.
  • He was executed in 1925 by decapitation with a guillotine.
  • Final words were “ I am guilty, gentlemen, but, hard though it may be, I want to die as a man” “ I repent, but I do not fear death”
  • Fritz also Admitted to 50+ murders before his death.

Forensic Involved

  • There wasn’t really any forensics involved other then the observation of blood on his carpets.
  • Fritz was apprehended while arguing with a 15 year old at the train station.

  • In 1924 they Found the head of Fritz’s first victim behind his stove.
  • Haarmann sold the flesh of his victims in the market As Pork and Horse meat.
  • Haarmann’s Head was Keeps in Hanover, Germany From 1925 -2014.
  • They found signs of meningitis in his brain after his death.
  • He disposed of all except one of his victims body parts in a lake.
