George Washington was born on February 22,1732 in West Moreland County Virginia. He died the age of 67 December 15th, 1799 at Mount Vernon. He was the first president of the United States. I used the 5 following criteria to evaluate his career:
*Communication Ability
*Party Leadership
*Handling the United States Economy
*Willing to Take Risk
* Executive Ability

George, had many public speaking opportunities in the First Continental Congress and speeches to his troops. However the two most impactful communications were, the proclamation of neutrality and his farewell address. The first protected our trade relations with both Great Britain and France. While the second stressed the importance of unity between the people of America.

George was a member of the Federalist Party. This party was formed during his first administration in direct opposition to the Republican and Democratic parties. The party was formed to encourage commercial and diplomatic relationship with Great Britain following the signing of the Jay Treaty in 1794. Even though the party does not exist today it made lasting impacts on the foundations of a national economy. Which also lead to the creation of a national judicial system which help govern the principles of foreign policy to this day.

George, always seemed to lead by example in terms of dealing with the economy. He stopped the Whiskey Rebellion of 1791 by proving the newly formed government was capable of putting down uprisings according to the law.He also lead by example by after leaving office he took no further salary as a retirement package, he instead returned to his home Mount Vernon and farmed the land.

George was a great risk taker due to his deep belief of freedom. He risked everything by choosing to lead the Continental Army. His most famous risk was immortalized by artist Emanuel Leutze in 1851 oil on canvas painting of the December 25-26, 1776 “Crossing of the Delaware River”. Which still hangs to day in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, In New York City.

In our fifth and final point we will discuss George’s Executive Ability. Due to a previous executive decision “The Proclamation of Neutrality” in 1793. George was forced to pass the “Naval Act of 1794” due to the loss of protection of British and French ships that made the American ships vulnerable to Piracy. This act made this a permanent force which is now today’s United States Navy.

In conclusion I would like to think George Washington was probably the most successful people who has ever lived by proving that he cared for other people and was willing to risk his life, which caused him to father and shape a nation that is 239 years old.
