MONKS

Monks shaved the top of their head. They did this to show people they are monks, to show their religion.

Monks robes were orange because of the available dyes at the time, and to show simplicity in the church.

Monks stay in monestaries because they live off the land together and it is a place where they can worship.

Monks took a vow of silence, they would worship God by praying on their knees each day for hours on end.

Monks refrain from eating meat on Fridays. They do this because Friday was the day Jesus was crucified.

Since there was no inns in the Middle Ages, travelers would stop at monestaries when they did travel.
