  • Def. is having a spinal cord/ vertebrate

WHAT TYPES OF ANIMALS ARE REPTILES?

  • Alligators/Crocodiles
  • Snakes
  • Lizards
  • Turtles

FEATURES

  • Bilateral symmetry
  • They like to live in warm areas to sit in sun
  • Has a body cavity
  • Inner skeleton

UNIQUE FACTS

  • Over 8,000 species
  • Have a long life span epically for turtles(150) and alligators (70)
  • 200 million years

FEEDING AND DIGESTION

  • Herbivores(iguanas,turtles)Carnivores(snakes) , insectivore(chameleons)
  • When they eat it goes into there mouth
  • Then down esophagus
  • Into the stomach
  • Then out rectum

RESPIRATION

  • Reptiles lungs spongy
  • Muscles around ribs to help force out air
  • Most reptiles have two efficient lungs
  • Snakes have one
  • Breaths out of trachea and lungs

CIRULATION

  • Double-loop circulatory system
  • Blood to and from lungs
  • Blood to and from rest of body
  • Reptile hearts contain two atria and one or two ventricles
  • Closed circulation system

EXCRETION

  • Urine produced in kidneys
  • Sometimes flows through cloaca in tubes
  • Excess water absorbed in cloaca
  • By eliminating wastes a reptile can conserve water
  • Reproduces sexually
  • Snakes can molt skin
