WHAT HAPPENED

  • An earthquake with a 9.1 magnitude caused a tsunami headed towards Sumatra, Indonesia.

WHO IT EFFECTED

  • It effected people in Sumatra, Indonesia. This tsunami had 230,000 deaths.

WHERE DID IT TAKE PLACE

  • This happened in Sumatra, Indonesia. But the earthquake started about 30 km in the ocean.

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN

  • The tsunami happened on the 26 December, 2004.

  • This tsunami is important because, one it was one of the biggest earthquake and it was 1300 km long.

  • This tsunami started with a earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1. One of the highest magnitudes ever. Also it was one of the biggest tsunamis know.

  • Plates around the location the tsunami hit caused a gigantic earthquake that gave the tsunami so much height and power.
