  • The inventor of the submarine is William Bourne.
  • A watercraft that is capable of an independent of an operation.
  • Is typically used to for underwater warfare.
  • Submarine means, "under the sea"
  • The naval tradition was to refer to the submarines as "boats" or "ships"

THE HISTORY OF THE SUBMARINE

  • William Bourne created the first submarine in 1570
  • Cornelius Van Drebell, a Dutch docter, in 1620 created the first submarine powered by rowers pulling on the oars
  • In 1578, William Bourne created the first enclosed submarine.
  • In 1680, The British Magazine printed a paper on the unusual device. (the submarine)

Where we are now

William Bourne died from an accidental gunshot.

We have carried the submarine into the 21st century though. We have upgraded weapons, bombs, missiles, and more, all that the submarine can carry. the first American to go into a submarine is David Bushell.
