Mana island is the smaller island of the two islands Mana and Kapiti island.

In 1886 Mariano Vella obtained a sublease of Mana from wright.

Mana island is a scientific reserve for holding native birds and plants.

In the the 1980's the department of conservation [DOC] took over the management of the island.
