Cells and functions

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Cell membrane

  • The basic function of the cell membrane is to protect the cell from its surroundings.

Cell wall

  • A major function of the cell wall is to act as a pressure vessal

Nucleus

  • The nucleus regulates all cell activity.

Chloroplast

  • Their main role is to conduct photosynthesis.

endoplasmic reticulum

  • The ER's main function is to manufacture and transport material to other locations.

Mitochondria

  • Mitochondria is usually referred to as the powerhouse of the cell.

Ribosome

  • Ribosomes are a cell structure that makes protein.

Golgi Body

  • A major function is the modifying, sorting and packaging of proteins for secretion

Cytoplasm

  • Cytoplasm is responsible for giving a cell its shape.

tissue

  • A tissue is a group of cells that have a similar shape and function.

Organ

  • A structure made of two or more different types of tissues that work together

Organ system

  • In the human body, major systems are the circulatory system, the respiratory system, the nervous system and the digestive system
