The Amistad Case

in 1839, 53 illegally bought African slaves were

put on a ship to be enslaved in America.

However, the Africans revolted on the ship

and were then intercepted by an american bigade

they were taken to Long Island and thrown in jail

while they were being tried, former president John Quincy Adams

defended them. saying that they are free because they were captured illegally
