  • The type of volcano Etna is stratovolcano.
  • Both types of eruptions happen when Etna erupts.

  • It is almost 11,000 feet high, making it the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps.

FACT

  • The most violent eruption was in March, 1669. The mountain erupted lava for several days, which destroyed several nearby villages and the city walls of Catania.

ERUPTION HISTORY

  • On December 3rd 2015, an eruption occurred which climaxed between 3:20 and 4:10 local time. This was a big eruption.

  • Mount Etna has erupted over 200 times since its first noted eruption in 1500 B.C. Mount Etna is the largest and most active volcano in Europe.

SURROUNDING AREA

  • No one lives in the surrounding area of mount Etna because it erupts more then 200 times each year and with the ash it can cause Thyroid Cancer.
  • People can visit mount Etna but it can be very dangerous.

HAZARDS

  • Lava fountain, ash clouds, and gas being released into the air.
  • No one live close enough to the volcano to be hurt by it, but if tourist are there they can get hurt. They warn people about the volcano. Most people take a tour bus.

CONCLUSION

  • Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanos and I think it will keep erupting and no one should get hurt by it. Based on the evidence Mount Etna will keep erupting about 200 times a year.
  • Mount Etna will most likely keep erupting for over more then 2,000 years.
