My essential question is, “Why does a parent’s adultery negatively affect a child’s self image?”

In the novel, “The Scarlet Letter”, Hester and Dimmesdale adultery had resulted in Pearls’ self image. The crowd looks at Pearl as a sinner’s daughter, even thought it was not her fault. But she was the result of Hester and Dimmesdale’s adultery.

Adultery affects child self image the most. And the reason for that is, the crowd looks at a kid as a Illegitimate child, instead of looking at him or her as a normal kid.

Because of Hester mistake, the self image negatively affect Pearl. She started thinking everyone as her enemy, cause the way the people treat her and her mom. Being a young kid, they learn whatever they see around them and then treat other the same way.

Parent’s adultery negativity affects child’s self-image. The crowd looks at him/her as a sinner, even thought it’s not his/her fault. Instead he/she is the result of their parents adultery.
