  • They didn't have shelter.
  • They had mean leaders
  • PEOPLE HAD NO RESPECT FOR THEM!
  • They were not paid for there awesome service.

  • They were tricked into going into the army.
  • They were still Slaves when they went home.

timelines

  • In early 1861 Texas joined the Confederacy.
  • In 1862 union troops seized Galveston
  • In 1863 the Texans took back the port.
  • Texas were readmitted to the Union of 1870.
  • Texans approved a new constitution in 1876.

reconstruction

  • Texan voters didn't help to ratify the Thirteenth Amendment {abolishment of slavery} or the Fourteenth Amendment {declaration of citizenship for African Americans}.
