PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Designer Hilla Shamia has created a striking line of metal furniture which melds cast aluminum with discarded tree trunks.
Having two elements with such contrast always draw the eye, as we’ve seen before with Mike Warren’s glow in the dark tables.
Rather than merely joining the two pieces using nuts and bolts, each of Shamia’s metal tables and benches feature aluminum which is poured directly into the negative space of the tree trunk, creating a modern, gorgeous fusion.
As the metal begins to cool against the wood, burn marks naturally form around each meld.
