POLAR HABITAT

  • Polar habitats are located in the north and south of the globe – the two pole ends of the Earth. The northern polar region is called the Arctic and the south is the continent of Antarctica. Polar habitats have just two seasons: summer and winter. In the summer, it is light for 24 hours a day, and in the winter it is dark for 24 hours a day.

WHAT DO THEY EAT?

  • The polar bear eats meat
  • The snowy wolf eats meat
  • Penguins eat fish
  • Fish eat other fish, plankton or krill
  • The snowy owl eats mammals
  • Marmots eat plants
  • Orca eats sea mammals

adaptation

  • They have thick fur or feathers, to blend with snow, or hibernate during the coldest winter months.
  • If the polar bear lived in the savannah he would die because of the high temperatures. Their bodies are not prepared to live there.
