PRESENTATION OUTLINE

THE TRANSPIRATION PROCESS

Created by: Tatiana Henderson and An Lai

Water starts off as a liquid then it starts the transpiration process by going into the roots. The plant needs nutrients and water to survive.

Then it goes up the xylem which then goes up into the stem. The xylem is a tube-like structure that helps bring the water up into the top of the plant.

After the water goes through the xylem and the stem, it's time for it to go through the leaves and the stomates. The stomates are holes that look like opening and closing doors.

The openings and closings of the stomates are controlled by the guard cells. The guard cells are a big part of the transpiration process because in case of a drought the guard cells would close and the plant would still be able to survive.

During this process, the water has already turned into a gas called water vapor.

Then the stomates release the water vapor into the environment. The transpiration process is the evaporation step in the water cycle.
