Who were the puritans
- settlers of plymouth
- wished to purify the Church of England
- The movement began in 16th and 17th centuries
They came to the new world because dissented the teachings of the Church of England.
Their daily life was to wake up at dawn go to Church. Then work all day till they go to bed at dusk.
Being a Puritan was hard, you worked day to night. There was blacksmiths, cobblers and coopers. There was a meeting house or church. There wore many farms. Also, houses outside of the town.
Anne Hutchinson was a woman that moved to the town. She moved because of her favorite minister being forced to leave. She held weekly meetings at her house for the woman of the colony. She was removed because of these teaches and was killed by Indians.
Roger Williams was an accident pastor at the church of Plymouth. He started studying the Indian language and religion. He was banished and became a mentor between the Indians and the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
A large landowner is a person that has a lot of land and slaves.
Artisans are people that made things on their own. Like blacksmiths or coopers.
Woman where people that had to be careful to pick a man to marry because he would get all of her land and money.
Freed slave was a slave that was freed by his or her owner. They still wore not treated fairly in the town but had some rights.
Farmers are people that have to grow crops for money and food. They had a very hard life, exactly in the winter.
Natives Americans were people that owned the land the newcomers wore taking. The natives did not like this but wore forced out of their land
Merchants wore people that bought things raised the price and sold them. They did not ever make anything for their shop. They only bought things.
Indentured servants wore people that did not have money to get on the ship to New England colony. So they asked someone to take them and they would work for years till they got to be free. Then they could start a farm to get money and food for them selfs.
