The Cay is about a young white boy who is shipwrecked and stuck on a raft with a cat and a black man. Phillip (the white boy) becomes blind from a head injury and has to relearn how to be independent from Timothy (the black man). The raft washes up on a little cay located in the Devil's Mouth. A tempest hits and Timothy perishes. Not to long after that a boat comes to rescue Phillip and the cat.
