PRESENTATION OUTLINE
When I enter the business world, I want to work with information technology, more specifically, video games, coding, and designing them, but I am willing to work in other fields of Information technology, if I don't achieve my goal.
Globalization:
The tendency of businesses, technologies, or philosophies to spread throughout the world, or the process of making this happen.
Factors that have promoted Globalization
- History: The trade routes were made over the years for the purpose of transporting Goods.
- Economy: The cost of goods and values to the end user determine the movement of goods and value addition.
- Resources and Market: As Demand for products and goods increase, prices rise for said goods; Inflation.
Timeline of Technological Innovations
- 1801:
Joseph-Marie Jacquard invents the automated cloth-weaving loom. The punched cards it uses to store patterns help to inspire programmable computers; Information technology
- 1908:
American industrialist and engineer Henry Ford launches the Ford Model T, the world's first truly affordable car; Transport technology
Timeline of Technological Innovation Cont.
- 3. 1830s-1840s: Charles Wheatstone and William Cooke, in England, and Samuel Morse, in the United States, develop the electric telegraph (a forerunner of the telephone); Communication Technology
Technology has changed the global business environment by making it easier to create, conduct, and manage businesses.
technological changes have made it easier and less tedious to create businesses, and it has affected current businesses, because now, it is easier to manage your business, having access to machines and technology that weren't available or weren't proficient back then.
Diversity creates an advantage for businesses, because not only will you have many people of different ethnicities and cultures conducting business, but each and every one of those persons has their own way of conducting said business, finding different, creative solutions to problems, and being fluent in languages that we may not understand, allowing them to communicate a larger group of people.
U.S. Population 2050 Projection
In other words, U.S. population is expected to rise by at least 89 million citizens/people.
After Interviewing my aunt, I found out that when she first joined the accounting workforce, which is a skill you'll need when working with Information technology, the employers back then would pay their workers, let's say, $12 an hour. Now, however, because of globalization, these employers now have access to workers all around the world, and can probably, and most likely will, pay them less, for working around the clock, due to the different time zones.
Globalization has affected the video game industry, by allowing game companies, such as activision and bethesda studios, to set up headquarters and buildings all around the world, to satisfy not only Our (american) wants, but Their(Chinese, Swedish, etc.) wants as well, effectively bringing in more income and profit.
Globalization, to me, is good and bad in a way. While it does open up many opportunities for business, it does have flaws, such as communication problems. After combining all of this information about globalization together, I realize that there are a lot more factors and skills that I must learn and acknowledge, such as good communication skills and understanding advanced computer language, if I want to achieve my goal of working with Information Technology.
