1. Caste System in the Indian Subcontinent

A. Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, and Shudras

C. In ancient India, women did not have many rights. They were supposed to raise the children and do house chores. Women were not given many rights like voting, and many were even uneducated.

2. Major Slave Systems (Ancient Greece and Rome)

A. Upper class, middle class, lower class, slaves

C. While women had an education, they were not held at a very high regard. Female slaves were even used for domestic work.

3. Confucian Social Hierarchy

A. Upper class, lower class, middle class

C. Women had a lower status then men, not matter what social class they were in.

4. Patriarchal Family Structures and Trends in Latin West and Byzantium

A. Roman Catholic Church and social hierarchy.

C. Women had the right to vote and had independence. While men had higher statuses, women were recognized for their worthiness and hard work.

5. Pastoral Groups and Other Non-Urban Societies

A. Nobles, blacksmiths, agricultural laborers, and slaves

C. Women were sometimes included in political/economical decisions as well as war activities.

Last Part

The Byzantium social structure was different because it gave rights to women and the lower class. Even though the family structure was patriarchal, everything was not run be men. Women had a say in political happening s and they had rights.
