ORIGAMI STARTED WHEN PAPER WAS INVENTED. IT WAS USED FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES.

Japan took a deep hold in the culture. At first origami was a practice of the rich. 800 years later it became so popular that girls were studying the art in school.

There were two reasons for its popularity; paper was now cheaper and two instructional books were published.

Paper folding had changed a lot. There were more fans and designs as well as new techniques.

Akira Yoshizawa was one of the best origami folders. He created "wet folding" to make smoother folds.

A LIFELONG SKILL
AKIRA PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO HIS DESIGNS AS WELL AS THE STORING PROCESS.

CRANES
The origami crane stands for generosity and a long life. They are said to be good luck and supposedly, will heal a sickness if 1,000 are folded.
