The Feb. 11 wreck off Respass Beach Road occurred when a small hand-held vacuum fell to the driver's side floorboard, according to Diana Klink, a city spokeswoman. The front-seat passenger, 23-year-old Latasha Dubois of Suffolk, reached over to retrieve it but grabbed the steering wheel when she sat back up, causing the vehicle to drive off the road, through a hedge and into a pond.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Grief counselors were at Standley Lake High School Monday as students returned to classes after losing a classmate three days earlier.

Lyneah Dike, 17, died in a crash at West 76th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard Friday night. Investigators say a drunk driver hit the car she was riding in.

She and her best friend, Lyndsey Petrie, were driving on Wadsworth when police say a truck driven by David Bunn, 54, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the girls’ red Mustang head-on.
“I want that man to live the rest of his life with the thought and picture of my beautiful daughter … he doesn’t deserve to be here,” Lyneah’s mother Christina Martel says.

Lyneah was in the passenger seat, and she died on the scene. Lyndsey went to the hospital with serious injuries and she remained there Monday night.

“It`s just hard when you find out that your daughter has been in a head-on car accident and go over there and see the car and it`s got a blanket over it and you know that your baby girl is inside there,” Lyneah’s father, Joe Dike says.
