Cellphones may have changed the way we live but, it's up to us to change the way we use our phones!

WHAT?

• Texting while driving has caused many deaths
• Had also caused both minor & serious injuries
• People have been arrested!

• 2011; 23% of auto collisions was caused by texting & driving
• 1 in 5 drivers are usually on the web
• 660,000 drivers in the U.S. use phones
• 6 times more likely to cause an auto crash than
• driving while intoxicated

• 80 percent of all crashes involve some form of driver distraction
• 1.6 million auto crashes each year=
• half million injuries and take 6,000 lives
• A crash happens within an average of 3 secs after a driver is distracted

WHY DOES IT HAPPEN?

• Drivers get disracted easily
• because of their constant use
• of phones when not on the road
• Some people are way to addicted
• Some people are careless

HOW DOES A DRIVER USE THEIR PHONE

• They put a hand on the wheel & phone in their lap
• Both hands on wheel & puts the phone ontop
• If talking, they can use a headset

• The driver
• Passengers of the driver's car
• Passengers of a different car
• People outside of the car

• Teens who text while driving spend 10% of the time outside their lane
• 40% of teens say that they have been in a car with a driver that used a phone
• Women are more likely than men to reach for their cell phones while driving

• 9 in 10 teens expect a reply to a text or email within five minutes or less
• Which puts pressure on them when driving to answer

WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

• To prevent texting & driving, we can promote pledges
• Enforce the laws
• Educate kids
• Educate parents

HOW CAN WE DO THIS?

• We can promote pledges by using social media
• We can eduacte kids by having them take classes
• that involve driving
• We can educate parents by showing them the causes
• and have them take a pledge

WHY SHOULD WE DO THIS?

• We should prevent texting and driving to keep people safe
• and to make less vehicles have no damage
• and to also help people involving texting and driving
• not to get thrown in jail
