PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WHAT DOES THE AMERICAN DREAM MEAN FOR MY GENERATION?

The American Dream today is defined by this generation today as perseverance.

"'You want to hold onto your dream even more when times are hard,' He said. 'And if you want to hold onto it you better define it differently.'"(Seelye 1).

"Open your mind to the possibility that your unique brilliance is valuable to the rest of the world and therefore to you." (Crofts 38)

The definition of perseverance for the American Dream fits well with the book "The Great Gatsby" by F.Scott Fitzgerald.

"So he invented just the sort of Jay Gatsby that a seventeen-year-old boy would be likely to invent, and to this conception he was faithful to the end"(Fitzgerald)

The American Dream and perseverance are important because today's generation is often questioned on whether or not it can keep the dream alive and work hard. But it can very easily do both of those things and be successful.
