HABITAT FRAGMENTATION

GAVIN,LEIGHTON,KYLIN

IMPORTANCE OF BIODIVERSITY

  • All the variety of organisms in the ecosystem do their part to sustain all life forms. No matter how big or small every organism plays a very important roll in the ecosystem.

HABITAT FRAGMENTATION

  • Habitat Fragmentation is when a large continuous habitat is separated into smaller isolated remnants.

HOW THE HABITAT IS AFFECTED

  • It effects the habitat because when areas of a habitat is destroyed the organisms living in that area will have to move to someplace else where they can survive. This can be dangerous, for example these turkeys are in danger of getting hit by a car because they are process of moving into a new habitat.

PREVENTING FRAGMANTRION

  • Create corridors, buffers and stepping stones.
  • Creating direct links from on patch to the other
  • Planting two trees for every one tree cut down.
