EARLY LIFE

  • Born on August 26, 1910
  • Originally born with the name Agnes Bojaxhiu
  • Showed an interest in missionaries at age 12
  • Joined the Sisters of Loreto in 1928.

ENTERING INDIA

  • Joined the Sisters of Loreto in 1928.
  • Became a citizen in India in 1929.
  • She then became a teacher.

MISSIONARIES OF CHARITY

  • She began her missionary work in 1948.
  • She was the founder of the M.O.C.
  • Over 4500 sisters participate

  • She won the Nobel Peace Prize.
  • Awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Divinity.
