POWER IN HAMLET

In “Hamlet,” the strong crave of power overtakes the minds of many characters. A man named Claudius has killed his brother who was the king to steal his throne. However, the son of the king, Prince Hamlet, plans to kill his father’s murderer to get revenge. Hamlet begins to lose his mind as all he does is attempt to kill Claudius. The power of knowing he may disappoint his father has overtaken his mind.

POWER IN SOCIETY

In the article, “Society and Social Power’ by Janani Harish, it discusses how people fuel society with power to make it stronger. Humans want to create more so they can add to society. This causes a feeling of empowerment as people feel powerful when they know they have contributed. Society has the power to influence opinions. Also, humans use goal making to create more also, when the goal is accomplished it gives them a sense of power.

POWER ON THE MIND

PSYCHOLOGICAL
In “Rising Power on the Mind” by Dustin Tingley, the article answers how power can take over a mind from a psychological standpoint. People unconsciously associate power with commitment. When there is a shift in power, people react because it has “broken” the routine or caused a change. People want to ensure that they will benefit so when a shift happens that they do not support, they naturally repel. Humans crave consistency, especially when it comes to power so they can maintain practicing what they want to.

CONCLUSION

The two articles answer how power can take over a person’s mind from two different views. From society’s view, people contribute by creating. Humans get a sense of empowerment by contributing. From a psychological point of view, the mind sees power as a commitment. People do not like it when power changes.
