STATE: Missouri
Grade 5. 1. C. Apply the principles of the U.S. Constitution to the historical time periods being studied and to current events.

National: United States
NSS-USH.K-4.3. The history of the United States: Democratic Principles and Values and the people form many cultures who contributed to its cultural, economic, and political heritage.

National Standards are a basis for the entire country.
State Standards are unique to each individual state.
Both standards must be met in public schools.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST

  • Both talk about how are country came to be and how we are different than other countries. It describes how the US is unique.
  • But, the National standard is much more generic.
  • The State standard focuses on a specific event and what that means to us.

NATIONAL STANDARDS ARE IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL STUDENTS IN THE COUNTRY HAVE A SIMILAR EDUCATION AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE GOOD CITIZENS; as well as to regulate the states.
