PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Sialia mexicana, commonly known as the Western BlueBird, is a kind of bird that lives in the Garry Oak ecosystem. But since humans have been clear cutting and destroying the Garry Oak ecosystem the Western BlueBirds population has been dropping significantly.
Your home should be a place you feel safe. But for the Western BlueBird, they don’t have many options.
Having their homes taken away and even destroyed leaves the Western BlueBird without a place to call home.
Deforestation negativity effects the environment. Leaving millions of species without a home, including the Western BlueBird. About 80% of the worlds land animals live in forests and deforestation doesn’t allow many of them to survive.
Having WoodPeckers create holes in the trees, gives the Western BlueBird a place to stay. Humans by clear cutting Garry Oak trees destroy the environment as well as the Western BlueBirds home. While doing this process we are destroying habitats for many living organisms including the Western BlueBird.
Humans have destroyed the homes of many different species including the Western BlueBird. Humans have been trying to restore the population and safety of the Western BlueBird by creating bird houses in the Garry Oak ecosystem.
Scotch Broom is an invasive species that has been slowly taking over the Garry Oak ecosystem and the home of the Western BlueBird. We, as humans, have been helping to restore the Garry Oak ecosystem by cutting these non native species. But in the process we provide noise pollution and disturb
the environment.
