LIVE IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

POPULATION 4,480,580 NOT ENDANGERED

HABITAT

  • Variety of habitats throughout Australia & New Zealand
  • Dry grassy plains
  • Sometimes even desert areas
  • Generally not found in areas with more precipitation

BEHAVIOR

  • Travel in groups called mobs
  • Find food at night
  • Spend there days in the shade
  • They defend them selfs with there hind legs
  • Engage in "boxing matches"

FOOD SOURCE

  • The red kangaroo is a herbivore
  • Grass
  • Leaves
  • Vegetation off the ground

REPRODUCTION

  • Kangaroos are marsupials
  • Baby kangaroos are not fully developed at birth
  • They finish growing in the mothers pouch
