ERUPTING EVIDENCE

The Earths crust is divided into 4 parts.

They are know as tectonic plates.

TYPES OF TECTONIC PLATS

  • Colliding
  • Sliding
  • Separating

These tectonic plates are the reason why earthquakes and tsunamis happen.

Tectonic Plates are about 62 miles thick and they have 2 different types of material. Oceanic Crust and Continental Crust.

When a volcano erupts it releases intense force that cause the tectonic plates to have collisions.

How tectonic plates make a volcano erupt

When the tectonic plates move they release the magma. Which the magma rises and as it rises the magma builds up gas. Then an explosion happens.

Tectonic plates are always moving slowly. When friction happens and they stop moving it sends a big wave on the earths crust. Which feels like an earthquake to us.

How tectonic plates make a tsunami happen

Tsunamis normally happen after an earthquake. The oceanic plate is being forced down the mantel by the tectonic forces. And the friction between the subducting plate and the overriding plate are enormous.
