HOW OFTEN

  • Over 300,000 people drive drunk everyday
  • Every 2 minutes a person is injured in a drunk driving crash
  • Causes 27 deaths every day
  • 2/3 of all people will be involved in a drunk driving accident at some point in their life.

WHEN

  • Majority of cases happen on weekends
  • 5 times more likely to happen at night

WHO

  • The rate of drunk driving is highest amongst 26-29 year olds (20.7%)
  • It is also higher amongst men then women

MICHIGAN STATS

  • DUI Deaths Last Year: 215 representing 23.9% of the total traffic deaths
  • Causing $1.3 billion of damage

WHERE

  • Top 5 Worst States: Mississippi, Wyoming, South Carolina, Montana, and North Dakota.

LAW ENFORCEMENT

  • Of the 300,000 drunk drivers everyday only 3,200 are arrested.
  • About 1/3 of arrests are repeat offenders.
