What is it?

  • Chlamydia is a common sexually transmitted infection.
  • It is a bacterial infection that can destroy a women's reproductive system if not treated fast enough.

How Common is it?

  • Chlamydia is very common especially in the United States.
  • It infects women in their 20s mostly, but butch male and female can have it.
  • All ages can also get Chlamydia.
  • It is more common the syphilis and gonorrhea.

What are the Symptoms?

  • Chlamydia often does not show symptoms so it is good to checked after unprotected sexual interactions.
  • One symptom may be a burning sensation while urinating.

How do you get it and how is it Prevented?

  • Chlamydia is spread by sexual intercourse and oral sex.
  • You can prevent Chlamydia by abstaining from sexual interactions.
  • If one does have sexual interactions, using protection is the best option.

Treatments

  • Chlamydia is not for life, but if not treated it can give complications.
  • Antibiotics can cure Chlamydia if taken correctly and as often as the doctor prescribes.

Complications from not treating it

  • If not treated in women, it can permanently damage the reproductive system.
  • It can also give women pelvic inflammatory disease.
  • Men may just receive pain and fever if not treated; it will not damage their reproductive system.
  • If not treated Chlamydia could result in other STDs.
