No Longer Salves

We do not need to bow to the world or to sin. God has the authority in our lives. We need to submit to Him alone.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

NO LONGER SLAVES

DANIEL 3:1-18

Nebuchadnezzar orders that all the important people in Babylon bow down to the massive gold statue he has built. When the music plays all the people bow except for three men. Three men stand when everyone else bows. Three men resist the world as everyone else gives in.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BOW DOWN TO THE WORLD?

We need to learn from these three men. The world promotes itself all the time. Tells us to bow to it otherwise we will not be accepted. In actual fact if we do not do it the way the culture of the day says we should we will be shunned and called all sorts of names. If we have a choice, to live life Gods way or the worlds.

“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—

The choice between God and the world is not a new one. Since time began the world has been tempting us to bow down to it. To go against Gods truth and do what they say. We are told our beliefs are old fashioned or that we are intolerant, choosing God is not easy but it is always the right choice and the most loving.

JAMES 3:4 -10

RESIST AND DRAW CLOSE.
We can not live as double minded people. We must decide are we friends of God or friends of the world. If we are friends of God we need to live according to His word. We need to resist the call of the world, we need to be like the three men in the story and stand no matter what the world tries to do to us. We must draw close to God and allow Him to be our priority not the things of the world.

WHO HAS THE AUTHORITY?

The three men in the story not only understood that they did not need to bow to the world but they also knew who had the authority. The men knew that King Nebuchadnezzar was not the real authority but that God was. They chose to obey the King of Kings instead of an earthly King. We also need to understand who is calling the shots in our lives.

ROMANS 6:12-23

NO LONGER SLAVES TO SIN
Sin was once our master. When we chose to enter into a relationship with Jesus and receive His grace and mercy we were bought from sin. We no longer belong to sin, sin no longer has the right to call the shots. Jesus is the one with the authority in our lives, we are slaves to God. Sometimes however it seems we forget and allow sin to order to us around. We fall into bad habits and forget sin is no longer our master and has no right to tell is anything. Just like the three men in the story we need to be obeying the right master, Jesus.

DO NOT GIVE SIN ANY AUTHORITY IN YOUR LIFE?

The only time sin has authority in our lives is when we give it. When we behave like sin is our master and do what it says we give it authority. The three men. Outdo have chosen to give Nebuchadnezzar authority over them and obey him, but they did not and neither must we. The only Captain of our lives is Jesus.

WHAT TO DO...

  • Do not be friends with the world.
  • Obey only one King, King Jesus.
Choose to be friends with God. Do not eBay Him and be friends with the world. Been a friend of God is not always popular choice but it will be the best.

Obey God only, do not give sin the owner it use to have. You have been bought with Christ blood you belong only to Him and He is the one who gets to tell you what to do.
