WHERE ITS LOCATED:

The Panama Canal is a 48 mile long international waterway that allows ships to pass between the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. This saves a journey of 8,000 miles around the Southern tip of South America.

BENEFITS OF THE CANAL

  • Import and export goods
  • Travel became quicker and easier
  • Created jobs
  • Trading helped to increase economy
  • Safer

Former President Theodore Roosevelt is responsible for building the Panama Canal from 1903-1914.
