Yellow Hat

• It kills possums, stoats and rats.
• Kea nesting success rates are increasing
• 1080 does not kill fish.
• When a rat eats the poison and then a stoat comes and eats the rat, it is called a triple kill, because they will both end up dead.
• The kiwi chick numbers have doubled since 2006 after 1080 was used.

Black hat

• There is no antidote for 1080 poison.
• 1080 can kill dogs, and other animals.
• 1080 can last up to 6 months if it's in a cool, dry area.
• If 1080 gets into the human body it could cause problems.
• 1080 can get into our water supply

RED HAT

• I think it is a good thing that we use 1080 or else most of our native birds and bush would be extinct. Since we have started using 1080 there has been a lot more of our birds living and more breeding. Even if it is harmful to dogs they should wear a muzzle if there could be any 1080 in that area.
