WHERE AND HOW IT IS USED IN MINNESOTA

  • Things taken out with water treatment, plastic, antibacterial soap antidepressant,a drug used to treat parkinsons disease and other deadly chemicals in water.
  • The St. Croix is badly contaminated because of floods which affects the Twin Cities water supply.

LAWS AND REGULATIONS

  • SDWA founded in 1974 and its amendments establishes laws protecting the drinking water used by public water systems. Ensuring the safety of public drinking water. The EPA made water standards:
  • Criteria to protect designated uses Antidegradation Requirements to protect high quality waters General Policies to address decide issues.

HOW IT IMPACTS THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Wastewater is treated to remove pollutants. Wastewater treatment is a process to purify the water, removing contaminants, making it safe for people and fish to use it again.

CHANGE TO THE ENVIRONMENT DUE TO WATER TREATMENT

  • Has cleaned a lot of water making it drinkable.
  • Cleaning lakes making it safer for fish because of the water treatment taking the chemicals out.

MOST RECENT NEWS

  • 47 million dollar contract
  • Going to spend it on technology for research to clean unsafe water.
