Volleyball Battleship

  • Skill: Serve
  • Objective: Eliminate all 6 of the opposing team's battleships
  • Equipment: Nets, 8 volleyballs, 12 hula hoops

Skill Cues - Underhand Serve

  • Non-dominant foot forward
  • Hold ball low across body in front of swinging arm
  • Shift weight forward
  • Contact ball with heel of palm
  • Follow through towards target

Skill Cues - Overhand Serve

  • Non-dominant foot forward
  • Hold ball with non-dominant hand at shoulder level
  • Toss ball up and slightly forward
  • Contact ball at highest point with stiff, open palm
  • Follow through towards target

Drill Set-Up

  • 2 teams per court
  • 4 volleyballs per team
  • 6 battleships (hula hoops) per team arranged in each serving location on court
  • Only 1 server per team may serve at a time, both feet behind serving line
  • Must jog to retrieve your volleyball after each serve

How Do You Win?

  • Once a battleship is hit, it is removed from the court and placed out of play
  • First team to hit all 6 opposing battleships wins!
